So about my trip to Bangkok! It did not start well. I planned to stay in Bangkok 3 days and then travel around islands. Sounds like a great plan, what could possibly go wrong? Of course, I’ve missed my flight. This was last flight at that day so I had jump on flight to Kuala Lumpur and from there fly to Bangkok. I have already lost one valuable day. When I have finally arrived after never ending journey it rained! And it did not rain like here in England it was really heavy rain, extremely humid and city smell was really bad.
Since I had only 2 nights left and I was jet lag and weather was terrible and I was already annoyed I haven’t even left the hotel during the day. I got frustrated with tuk tuk drivers each time I wanted to go to certain location they just drove me around to ping pong shows in the night. I made it to one of the famous party streets but haven’t really enjoyed it.
Even if you are staying in luxury five star hotel and have one of the best suites you can still see how poor people live in slums and don’t have roof or taking bath in dirty canals and that’s just does not seem right.
I promised myself that I will plan another trip to Bangkok and I will visit all the temples and give BKK another chance as I am sure something nice is out there.
Since landing to Phuket my mood has improved and I was all excited to explore the islands. I have booked for a week eco – luxury resort in Ko Yao Yai called Santhiya Resort and Spa. You can’t beat arriving by speedboat, and first impressions as the hotel comes into view, dotted along the hilltop is quite impressive. Every inch of this hotel is carved from wood. There is such a relaxed atmosphere. Of course clean private beach is a must! Spacious rooms with hot tub outside or you can choose to stay at pool villas. I have really enjoyed my stay. If you staying in resort please do visit spa it’s worth the money! Best massage I’ve ever had! Apart from visiting spa you can snorkel all day long or rent a bike and go explore island, just be careful on roads you can meet huge black snakes and for those people like me who have fobia – good luck!
Back to Phuket. Obviously I can’t miss famous Patong beach! One thing I like about Thailand is that they do have nice luxury five star hotels for a reasonable price.
I reckon I got too spoiled at my previous resort and that’s why I did not enjoy Patong beach! It was crowded, dirty and smelly. The only activity I’ve done I rented a jet ski and visited elephant farm. I did not ride on elephants as I felt sorry for them. Thai people abusing them and if I could I would shut this farm down! Small baby elephants standing all day long just like an attraction for people and have big chain around their leg!
In the night Patong beach becomes absolutely different place! Drugs and prostitution everywhere. Thai girls dancing half naked on tables and people pulling you into bars and ping pong shows again. I am not a huge lover of such things so yeah not for me! Thanks
